Now he had 3…

For some, 3 is a wonderful number, while for others, it is the kiss of death. I hope that yours is the former, not the latter.

We went off to a soccer game in the outer regions o the greater Montreal Area to a town called Rosemere. It is in the suburbs of Montreal. Nice little town.

The teams record was not something to smile about, as they lost them both. one not too bad, the other they were crushed by the other team.

The coach had been working with them them not only improve their game, but their moral as well. Tough coming up form the depths of such losses. But, they were troopers and were ready to play.

They went in to the match with the heads held high, always looking for a good ending.

It must be told that while Matisse was running around on the field, Alvin was running around off the field, with his new found friend. I had to shift my attention back and forth between the two. While Alvin loves being at the game, his attention is usually wondering between the game and his fun!

In the first period, while going between Matisse and Alvin, I was lucky enough to look up when Matisse took a kick and as luck would have it, the ball flew right between the legs of the goalie who was a good 20 feet away form the goal. The ball rolled in the goal and St Laurent team and fans cheered to celebrate the moment. The team was happy.

Between the rest of the 1st and the end of the 2nd period, the other team scored a goal. I missed it. Matisse also snuck one in while I was distracted and playing with Alvin, as did on of his teammates.

As the third period started, was able to combine the speed that he is known for, along with the strength of his legs to take the ball, run with it, and get into a position to shoot. He used his might and made the ball, once again, sail through the net.

The score was now 4 to 1. St Laurent up by 3 points.

By the end of the game, St Laurent was not able to add an extra point to the score board, but the other team was. The final score was 4 to 2 , in St Laurent favors.

As the team, with their smiles an cheers, drifted, okay, floated, off the field towards the locker room. As they entered, Alvin and I, standing about 30ft away, heard a deafening loud roar coming form the locker room from a team who needed their moment in glory. They deserved it, after being held down by other team for too long.

As Matisse, the star of the moment, walked form the locker room, the coach tossed out, “hey, you dad needs to bring you to McDonalds to have 3 Big Mac’s!”. “You deserve it after getting your 3 goals.!”. Matisse was high as a kite, because he got his 3 goals!! I know he’d be happy for awhile since now he had 3….
