I go on walks for many reasons.
This can be to talk to my wife or go on a simple walk with the kids to the park.
It can also be to get out of the house to stop being surrounded by all the things that can distract and cloud ones mind. This is a great temporary escape fr reality, with fresh air and a breeze to clear ones thoughts! It let some think of things that aa distracting environment does not allow.
This particular walk was just before a soccer game started for my eldest son. Before thw game actually started(they need to be an hour early to My youngest one and I were walking around the park waiting for the game to start.
While walking, I passed by a sign that reminded me of another young man in my life. The sign said:
Park Smiley
It would seem on the surface that this is to be a god humored park, where we can all be in a good mood, or it brings good times.
This young man in question, who I’ve known pretty much all his life, made a mark on me at a young age. Maybe it was just me, but at some point I I started calling him Smiley.
What are the odds of finding a park with that name? It was bound to happen, but the odds of me finding it, well, slim. But I did.
Dedicated in his honor? Unlikely 🙂 But, I’d like to think so.
Well, the name just stuck.
He has grown a bit, OK, a lot a bit. I use the name Smiley a lot less nowadays.
But, when I do actually use Smiley, well, the smile peeks out and lights up his face. He still remembers why I came up with that name…
